BOWIE, MD — A bomb threat was called in to Bowie State University Monday morning, according to authorities. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was at the scene with explosive-detecting K-9 officers, with the Maryland State Police and the Prince George's County Fire Department also assisting. K-9 officers are sweeping the buildings, the fire marshal reported after 9 a.m. Classes are meeting virtually Monday due to an emergency on campus, Bowie State University officials advised around 7:30 a.m. Those on campus should shelter in place until further notice. MARC trains are reportedly bypassing the Bowie station due to police activity. This is breaking news and will be updated.
