$17.5M Bond Referendum For Princeton Schools Approved By Voters

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Public Schools held a special election on Jan. 25, asking voters to approve a $17.5 million bond referendum. According to the unofficial results for the Mercer County Clerk's office, the referendum has been approved and will finance urgent repairs and improvements at the school district. As of Monday, 2,320 residents voted "yes" with 721 voting "no". Out of the 17,673 registered voters in Princeton, only 17.2 percent, or 3,044 residents cast their ballots. "We are still waiting for the Board of Elections to count the final vote by mail ballots, provisional ballots. We should have final tallies by tomorrow, and we plan to certify by Wednesday, Feb. 2," County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello told Patch. The district is hoping to install new roofing at all six schools and replace outdated rooftop HVAC equipment.
