BOULDER, CO —Two Boulder Police Department officers saved a woman from an early-morning fire on Jan. 2, and the dramatic bodycam footage was posted on the department's Twitter account last week. Officers Douglas Perhacs and Mandalyn Stasiak rescued the woman from a fire in the 13oo block of Canyon Boulevard. The incident took place at 12:20 a.m. according to the timestamp on the bodycam footage. The victim, whose name was not provided, suffered burns according to the police department. "The woman has most likely been released from the hospital after being treated for her injuries," a department spokesperson told Patch on Monday. The video begins with the officers arriving at the scene of the fire, where they quickly discover a woman lying on the sidewalk just feet from the flames. "Hey, get out of there. It's on fire, back up now," officer Perhacs says. "I can't get up," the woman says, indicating something has happened to her leg. At that point, officers Perhacs and Stasiak pull the woman away from the flames, while officer Stasiak asks: "Is there anyone else back there?" The woman says there is nobody else in danger. Next, another clip shows the scene after a fire truck and ambulance have arrived. That's when the officers help to pick up the woman and carry her away from the smoke and to the waiting ambulance. Authorities said the cause of the fire still is under investigation.
