JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested a 39-year-old man who authorities say choked a woman unconscious inside the Budget Inn Express on McDonough Street last week. Police also say Michael Lilly hit the woman's 1-year-old child while he was hurting her. The domestic violence happened on Jan. 26 and Joliet police arrested Lilly three days later, inside a different guest room at the Budget Inn at 1806 McDonough St., police reports show. Joliet police said Lilly lives in Joliet, while his Will County Jail logs listed Lilly as being a Glendale Heights resident. Lilly faces two counts of aggravated domestic battery and two counts of domestic battery. Shortly after 5 a.m. on Jan. 26, Joliet police were sent to the Budget Inn for a domestic violence call. Police say Lilly beat up the woman during an argument in a guest room, and "Lilly began striking the victim in the face multiple times. Lilly also struck the victim's 1-year-old female child while being held by the victim," Joliet police announced. When the woman put her child down, Lilly began choking her to the point of losing consciousness, police spokesman Dwayne English said. Lilly then dragged the woman into the bathroom by her hair and continued to beat her, police reports show. Lilly left the area before police cars arrived, according to police. The woman suffered injuries to her head and body, but she refused medical assistance. Three days later, on Saturday night, Joliet police went back to Budget Inn Express around 9 p.m. after learning that the victim was being reported as missing by her family. Joliet police determined that Lilly was in a guest room and the victim of the Jan. 26 attack was also in the room, police said. Lilly was taken into custody without incident, police reports reflect. Lilly was booked into the Will County Jail around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. His bail is $50,000.
