JOB DESCRIPTION: A great family of four (mom/dad/4 yr old son/15 month old daughter), with one child on the way (due early July), based in north Park Slope, is looking for a second mother’s assistant/house manager. The family currently has a full-time nanny in the home who works from 7a-2p, along with a housekeeper who is there twice a week. The main duties include sharing household responsibilities with the current mother’s assistant, as well as working independently in the afternoons to keep an eye on the (very mobile and hilariously adorable!) children while the mother gets dinner prepared. List of responsibilities that are shared with the current assistant include basic cooking, light housekeeping (wiping down counters after use, unloading dishwasher, light laundry, putting away children’s toys), childcare, and household management tasks (ordering groceries, children’s laundry, package opening/returns, house organization, and other miscellaneous tasks). The more type-A you are, the better!!! Following the birth of the third child (due 7/2/22), likely from late July until Labor Day of 2022, the family will be staying in the Hudson Valley about twenty minutes from the Coldspring train station. The ideal candidate would be able and happy to stay at the house with the family (in a private bedroom with their own bathroom) Thur-Sun while the current assistant covers Mon-Thurs. Travel arrangements and accommodations will be arranged and discussed with the family and provided. WHO WE ARE: The mother is home full-time and appreciates cleanliness very much, gentle but humorous personalities, and independent thinkers. The father works in the home (sometimes at an office) but is expecting to travel more as the world starts to open up again. The four year old boy is a bucket of knowledge who loves music, art, trips to the park and blowing your mind with his impressive vocabulary. The 15 month old girl is a smiley explorer who recently learned to walk and won’t ever be stopped from doing her own thing again. They are both joyful and caring children who are a pleasure to be around. (**family description written by current mother’s assistant**) IDEAL CANDIDATE: Our ideal candidate lives within walking or biking distance of Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn and has a working knowledge of the Montessori method and Janet Lansbury, is a grad student or recent college graduate, and prides themselves on their careful attention to detail. Meticulous hygiene is required (ie removes shoes indoors; washes hands upon entering the home, before preparing food/handling dishes, after changing diapers and using restroom; wears casual yet freshly laundered clothing; refrains from perfume use at work, etc). The candidate also believes in vaccinations and is up to date on theirs (including annual flu shots, COVID vaccines, and TDap for being around newborn). You should be able to commit to this position for a minimum of a year with the opportunity to extend if it’s a great fit, have a valid driver’s license, and be open to some travel with the family as needed over the summer. With the new baby on the way this person should be a true team player who is able to learn quickly and pick up slack wherever it falls. SCHEDULE: The schedule can be flexible based on the perfect candidate’s desires, but the ideal candidate would work on weekday afternoons starting between 2-4p and would be around until 7:30 or 8p to help with after-dinner clean-up and bath and bedtime routines. Working one day or evening per weekend is also ideal and flexible. COMPENSATION: The employer offers a guaranteed weekly minimum, sick days, vacation time, and a yearly bonus. The starting salary is $25/hour with an increase to $30 once a proper fit is confirmed (likely within one month of employment). Health insurance TBD.
