Teacher Fired, No Evidence Of Aurora 'Inappropriate Video': Cops

AURORA, IL — A vendor teacher at Waldo Middle School is accused of "engaging in inappropriate behavior" at the end of a virtual math class, according to school and police officials. In a letter to families Friday, Lori Campbell, East Aurora School District 131's associate superintendent, confirmed the inappropriate incident occurred and made it clear the teacher wasn't an East Aurora School District 131 staff member. "We first and foremost want to inform you that an investigation into the full extent of the behavior has been conducted," Campbell wrote. "Appropriate steps have already been taken to ensure that the vendor and the situation have been addressed." Police said they "received reports of potentially inappropriate content being heard at the end of a virtual tutoring session" at the school. Despite the claims, police "have not received any evidence that there was any inappropriate video displayed." "APD has been able to confirm that this incident revolved around a contracted company that provides tutoring sessions to District 131 students," police said in a statement released Saturday. "The incident did not involve any District 131 employees." The teacher, according to a statement from the school's contracted vendor, has since been fired. "We would like to apologize," reads the statement, relayed by District 131. "We do not take issues like this lightly and are fully committed to ensuring a positive learning experience. Our team took swift action, investigated the matter, and as a vendor terminated the employee. We are fully committed to ensuring a successful education experience with all of our partner schools." The district, along with the Aurora Police Department, is investigating the incident.
