WEST ISLIP, NY — Suffolk County Police officers provided life-saving aid to a 71-year-old man who was in medical distress after clearing snow from a property in West Islip on Saturday night.
Third Precinct officers Terence Slane and Tristen David responded to a Hyman Avenue residence after a 911 caller reported a neighbor had collapsed while using a snow blower at 7:30 p.m., police said. Upon arrival, officers found the man in cardiac distress and without a pulse, police said.
Officers began CPR and utilized an automatic external defibrillator on the man twice to regain a pulse, police said.
The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said.
