Description
Hi, I hope your day is going great. I am a 66 year old male, diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013.My gleason score was 3/4, and the cancer was in a small section of my prostate. I have been on hormones, since 2015, no operation. Currently, my biopsy shows that the cancer is very aggressive, and visible in most (roughly 90%) of the "walnut". The doctors have given me Erleada, and I still taking hormones. I have been stalling on prostate removal/and or radiation. I realized that everyone I know is fine after removal is fine, but they still have to get radiation. One person I know has scar-tissue buildup, that is painful and has to be removed roughly every two years. While I am not against the operation, I am at odds between that and radiation only.I am told that removal of the prostate is not a good idea AFTER having radiation, as it is very tough trying to sew back the skin. Also, I looked into cryotherapy, not sure about that option.I have narrowed it down to Brachytherapy, if I go with radiation, because it doesn't seem to destroy tissue (correct me of this is wrong). I am asking anyone including doctors and nurses for real world advice, or your own experience. I have seen a case study on Erleada having a 44 month survival rate in clinical trials. NOTE: when I waited the year to start on hormones, there was NO significant movement of the cancer (a few extra specks close to the original section). I believe my PSA numbers have been under 1, but over zero. Does it make any sense to get another biopsy in say, August?, and only then proceed???. While I am an optimistic person, I am not a fool, and realize that we are fortunate to have all of these options, and applaud the devoted medical personnel. I wish it had been the same for my Mom's lung cancer in 1995, but I understand there are incredible strides to help with that and many other types of cancer now. Any help on diet would also be appreciated. I currently eat a lot of fish, eggs, some meat, frozen vegetables, a minimal amount of fried foods, and "maybe" a stop at a fast-food place 5 times a year (and that is pushing it). All replies are 100% anonymous, and only so I can get outside ideas. have a great week!!!!!Thank You
