Coronavirus: Attleboro Reports 196 Positive Cases, No New Deaths

ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux on Sunday reported 196 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus as of Sunday. That is an increase of 16 over the number reported from Saturday. Mayor Heroux said the positive number does not include a few "that are still suspect" that were called into Sturdy Hospital from the city nurse, but were still pending. Mayor Heroux advised: "Use good hand hygiene, practice social distancing, be mindful of cross contamination, clean touch points at work often, and don't get complacent. We are all in this together. Our individual behaviors will determine how long this virus is a threat to all of us." Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday afternoon offered a blunt assessment of the coronavirus crisis in Massachusetts. "Today is the beginning of what we expect is going to be a very difficult period," Baker said. The state on Sunday started seeing more than 2,500 cases per day, an ominous mark that portends a tough road ahead. Massachusetts is in the midst of what Baker has said will be a surge of COVID-19 patients.
