Attleboro Man Killed In North Smithfield Pedestrian Strike

ATTLEBORO, MA — RI State Police said an Attleboro man struck while trying to cross Route 146 in North Smithfield died from his injuries Sunday night. Police said Raymond Mercier, 57, was hit in the area of Sayles Hill Road Sunday night about 9:30. The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he died. The driver, from North Smithfield, remained at the scene and police said it did not appear that he was impaired. The investigation was ongoing as of Monday.
