NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA—A man and woman from Brockton have been taken into custody in connection to an armed robbery that took place around 8:45 a.m. Thursday morning at the 406 East Washington Street Stop & Shop.
State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a statement that the suspect fled the grocery store in a white Acura. About an hour later, police learned that they had their car towed and brought to a service plaza in Bridgewater.
According to a tweet sent out by the Massachusetts State Police at 11:37 a.m., the woman, identified as Valerie Proulx, 41, was arrested at the Burger King plaza on Route 24 northbound in Bridgewater.
The man, identified as Justin W. O'Connell, 36, carjacked a Toyota Camry livery sedan and fled to West Bridgewater, where police followed and arrested him after he crashed at Crescent and Spring Streets. Male carjacked livery sedan and fled. The police followed him into West Bridgewater, where he crashed at Crescent/Spring Street and was taken into custody.
Proulx and O'Connell were taken to the Middleboro State Police barracks for booking, but claimed to need medical attention and were brought to a local hospital. This incident remains under investigation.
