Welcome to the first "Skate-4-Charity" Hockey Tournament! This year we are having the first Skate-4-Charity Hockey Tournament at 11:50AM on Sunday, March 20th!! Located at Edge Sports Center, Bedford, MA, it is a four-team hockey tournament competing to raise money to donate to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It is FREE TO ATTEND! We encourage donations of any amount, in various ways. 100% OF PRIZE TICKETS AND GOFUNDME DONATIONS WILL GO TO DANA FARBER CANCER INSTITUTE. Our skaters and sponsors have covered operating costs and prizes. Here is the schedule of the tournament: 1130AM: Doors open 11:50AM: Game 1 Lower Rink Starts 12:00PM: Game 1 Upper Rink Starts *Break between games is to socialize, rest, etc. 2:10PM: Consolation Game Starts 2:20PM: Championship Game Starts 4PM: Award Ceremony and Prize Drawing (Located off site, TBD) We are raising money several different ways and encourage anyone to donate what they can, however they can! Prizes: There will be various prizes you can enter to win at the tournament by purchasing a ticket. 100% of prize ticket sales will go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. About our Skaters and Organizers: Organized by myself and Steve Molloy, Skate-4-Charity is a four-team hockey tournament that will donate to different charities each year. This year we have chosen Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an organization I have supported in the past. I came up with the idea Skate-4-Charity after searching for charity hockey tournaments to participate in. There were some options, but none seemed to be the right fit, some were restrictive to the causes they donate to, and the downside was I could only make a team with a few of the many awesome people I've played hockey with the last several years. Then I realized something; I probably know enough hockey players to organize a charity tournament! Many of us skate together at least once, if not twice or three times a week! I talked to Steve, and he immediately shared the same passion, excitement, and enthusiasm as I did for this project. We don't expect perfection given that this is our first year.
