Yoga for vets by a former Green Beret. No weird stuff. Just balanced yoga exercise and camaraderie.
You've heard that yoga is amazing for veterans and that even the VA has gone full on with yoga. However, the thought of wearing tight yoga pants, walking into a room of skinny, beautiful, semi-professional gymnasts chanting Sanskrit and goodness knows what else causes even the bravest combat veteran to reconsider. Good news! This class is taught by someone uglier and grumpier than you. Zimbo is a 20 year Army veteran and former Green Beret. Just to make you feel comfortable he'll throw in some of your old PT favorites as '4-count exercises'. So dust of your old OD foam sleeping pad and head over. If you don't have a pad bring a towel, blanket or heck even one of those yoga mats. We've got the space from 14:30 to 15:30 and they open at 16:00 with beer and food. It is kid and dog friendly so have family and friends join you at 16:00 and we can all talk bad about the other branches and see if we've been down range in the same places. This yoga is for all levels. If it's your first time Zimbo will take care of you. If you think you're a pro at yoga - well, we'll see 'cause talk is cheap. Wear comfy exercise clothes and you'll do this barefoot or in socks. If you're out of shape no biggy besides round is a shape. The good thing about yoga (and not being on active duty) is that all the exercises and fancy yoga moves are optional. You can chose to just skip the ones you aren't feeling. The yoga is free and the space is donated by the good folks at Southside Garage. Your food and beverage are on you. Let's limit this to veterans and a support person (e.g. spouse). Real service dogs that know 'sit, stay' and won't disrupt the class are welcome.
