Press release from the City of Portland: January 29, 2022 The Yellow Zone snow ban is used to allow crews to perform snow hauling following major snow storms as it is important to clear the narrow downtown streets.  The Yellow Zone includes the downtown district bounded by Cumberland Avenue, Franklin Street, Commercial Street, and State Street. Click here for a map of the Yellow Zone. Click here Anyone who parked in the Spring Street and Elm Street parking garages for Friday and Saturday nights can stay Sunday night if need be. The snow ban parking rate is $3/night (no going in and out). Elm Street garage will be open on Sunday.  UPDATE ON SATURDAY NIGHT (1/29-1/30) CITYWIDE PARKING BAN:  For this storm only, those parked in snow ban surface lots listed below must be out by 8:00 AM on Sunday morning rather than the normal 7:00 AM.  PARKING BAN INFORMATION The City offers numerous free options for parking during a snow ban. These lots are available after 5:00 PM on weekdays on the day a ban is called unless otherwise posted (see note above). School lots and unrestricted parking areas can be accessed earlier on weekends/when school is not in session.  All vehicle owners must remove their vehicles from these designated areas listed below by 7:00 AM (except for school lots, which are 6:30 AM and by 8:00 AM for the Promenades, State St Ext., and Marginal Way) the morning the ban is removed.  The City may tow, at the owner's expense, any vehicle which has not been removed by the deadline: Most parking garages will be available during snow bans at reduced rates. Vehicles must be out of these alternate parking lots by 7:00 AM (unless otherwise noted) the morning the ban is lifted.
