ANDOVER, MA — Andover has 178 active coronavirus cases as of Friday, down from 195 last week and a recent high of 199. But the town also reported 11 additional deaths over the last week, bringing the total to 78 since the virus arrived in the area.
The town added 164 cases and reported a 3.67 percent positive rate over the last two weeks, according to the latest state data. The town remained moderate risk, with its positive rate below 5 percent.
As of Friday, Atria Marland Place has 14 ongoing cases; 12 residents have died.
"In early November, when a cluster of cases was identified, Atria tested all residents and staff members," the town said Friday. "Since then, town public health officials have visited the facility and operational guidelines were developed for the facility. Testing will continue at the facility, and the town will continue to remain in communication with management at Atria Marland Place as well as state regulators."
Along with the latest town-by-town numbers, the state reported 6,477 new cases Thursday, the most on record. The state reported 5,192 Friday, still the second-highest on record.
The seven-day average positive test rate is now over 5 percent, statewide.
