Description

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Fire Rescue put out an attic fire in a Bowdoin Road home, Tuesday morning, Chief Michael Mansfield said. The department responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to a fire at 13 Bowdoin Street. Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the single family home. All occupants, including pets, had already safely exited the house before firefighters arrived. No one was injured. The department worked to extinguish the fire in the attic, limiting its spread. Mansfield estimated the damage at $200,000, including water damage on the first floor and smoke damage throughout the house. The residents are staying with friends, as the house is temporarily uninhabitable due to damage to the electrical system. Lawrence and Tewksbury firefighters provided station coverage during the fire. Andover Fire and Police are investigating the fire's cause, but believe it to be accidental.
