ACTON, MA — Acton has four confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in town. Due to privacy concerns individual details are not provided. To limit the spread of the virus, all playgrounds and recreational facilities are closed.
Rail trails and conservation areas remain open but residents are reminded to practice social distancing at all times. Acton's Annual Town Election has been postponed until June 2, 2020 which is also the new date for the Special State Election. Voters are encouraged to vote by mail through absentee or early voting.
Acton's Board of Selectmen and Board of Health also voted to temporarily suspend enforcement of the local plastic bag ban until July 1.
Gov. Bakers announced on Monday that the "surge" in coronavirus patients in Massachusetts is expected in mid-April. As of Monday, Massachusetts had 5,752 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 58 deaths.
