ACTON, MA — Acton's case count for the new coronavirus rose to 39 positive cases, as of Monday. The town is suggesting residents over the age of two wear face masks when out in public. The Board of Health directed staff to post additional signage at certain conservation areas, rail trails, and the Arboretum to help reduce the transmission of the virus. The town is reminding residents to practice social distancing whenever possible and to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand gel with at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available. The Town of Acton has set up a COVID-19 hotline, it can be accessed by calling 978-929-6619. Please refrain from calling the hotline to inquire about individuals who have tested positive to respect their privacy. The individual's medical information is confidential and the release of this information is limited by law. The total number of cases in the state is 28,163. Gov. Charlie Baker said on Tuesday, about half the state's nearly 16,000 hospital beds are available for patients suffering from COVID-19.
