Acton 2020 Election: Planning Board Change, Sena Wins Rep. Seat

ACTON, MA — Just under 20 percent of registered voters in Acton hit the polls on Tuesday to vote in the Annual Town Election and the Special State Election, according to the town's preliminary results. Of the 15,946 registered voters in Acton, 2,796 voted in Tuesday's election. While several races were uncontested, the race for the two seats on Acton's Board of Selectmen saw four contestants. Joan Gardner secured her re-election, earning 34 percent of the vote. James Snyder-Grant was also elected to the board with 31 percent of the vote. Terra Friedrichs came in third with 14 percent of the vote and Beverly Cornell trailed behind with 10 percent. The Acton-Boxborough School Committee race was uncontested but welcomed two new faces. Kyra Wilson Cook and Yebin Wang were both voted into the committee alongside Amy Krishnamurthy who was re-elected. The one and only ballot question seeking to change the Planning Board from seven members to five, passed with 50 percent of the vote. In the Special State Election, Acton Democrat Danillo Sena won the race for the 37th Middlesex District Representative. He defeated his Republican opponent, Cathy Clark, both in the overall election and in the Acton polls. Sena earned 87 percent of the vote in Acton.
