Massachusetts was named the best state in the country to have a baby by the personal finance website WalletHub. The ranking was calculated based on 32 factors, including paid leave policy, infant mortality rates and more.
Massachusetts was at the top of the list, followed by Minnesota and Vermont. Another New England State, Rhode Island, also cracked the top five. Mississippi, South Carolina and Alabama, respectively, were at the bottom.
Massachusetts ranked highest for its parental-leave policy score and had the fourth lowest infant mortality rate. Here's a look at how the state ranked in several other categories.
