Family of fit, friendly, early 80’s retired businesswoman (lifetime Pocatellan) seeks helpful companion, digital assistant, provider of light housekeeping, errand companion, exercise buddy, and meal-organizer for her now that she is slowing down a bit. Our mother doesn’t need help bathing or dressing or getting around her home or the community (she drives and takes almost daily walks), but she is a social person and the isolation of the pandemic has dampened her mood, made her feel stir crazy, blurred her sense of the calendar and the passage of time, and drained her motivation to put together healthy meals as often as she should. We seek someone to help her keep track of appointments, drive her on errands when the weather is bad, run a vacuum, spot-mop a floor and wipe a few sinks and mirrors a few times a month, organize 2-4 meals for/with her each week, and to generally be an anchoring presence in her life who just shares in her day-to-day happenings and helps her feel centered. We seek someone 7 hours a week at $14/hr for a trial period of a couple of months (likely 11am – 2:30 pm 2 days a week). After working together and building trust and comfort, our hope is that the person (or the person and their spouse) would then move in to an attached (private entrance) apartment in our mother’s home and would evolve to working for $8/hr (+ the utilities-paid apartment) for about 15-20 hrs/week. This is admittedly a complicated-sounding plan that we have in mind, but it could be perfect for someone who has just sold their house (or is perhaps divorcing, recently widowed, or going through another life change).
