Joining forces for this single show, Bennett and Cote will perform songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Newfoundland and the sea. Join Celtic folksingers and multi-instrumentalists Troy R. Bennett and Travis Cote for a special afternoon concert, the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day, March 13, 2022. The lively show begins at 4 p.m. at Cadenza on Depot Street in Freeport, Maine. Bennett grew up in Maine, listening to Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem records before attending college in Ireland. Upon returning to the Pine Tree State, he earned his folk music stripes playing in well-traveled groups including The Squid Jiggers, Rakish Paddy and Bailey’s Mistake. With decades of experience, Bennett is a sing-along master who knows exactly how to get an audience involved in a show. Guitar, banjo and bodhran are his main instruments. Cote, also a Maine native, began studying the highland bagpipes at a young age after hearing an uncle play the notoriously difficult — and stirring — instrument. Since then, Cote has added small pipes, tin whistle and guitar to his arsenal of musical armaments. In addition to playing dozens of solo concerts every year, Cote is also a regular performer with The Barmen and The Pubcrawlers. Cadenza has a singular focus: to provide live music experiences in a casual and comfortable setting.
