Bourbon is truly native to the United States. Likely originating among Scots-Irish settlers in Kentucky in the mid-nineteenth century, this whiskey would have been well known to Alexander Majors and John Wornall, both originally from Kentucky.
Join on May 6 for a crash course on bourbon, just in time for the Kentucky Derby! Hear about how to taste bourbon, receive a tasting card, and enjoy five samples of bourbon to compare. $30 – all proceeds go to historic education and preservation in Kansas City!
The Wornall/Majors House Museums manages two of Kansas City’s most significant and dynamic historic structures: the John Wornall House and Alexander Majors House. The houses, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places, provide a variety of educational and community opportunities, including public tours, hands-on field trips, summer camp, social events, educational lectures, author events, youth story times, and holiday and seasonal activities.
