Hello, I am posting to advertise free tutoring services in exchange for participation in academic testing sessions. These services are available to students in grades K-12. I am a Ph.D. candidate in a local educational psychology program, and as part of my training, I am required to administer academic assessments to K-12 students. In addition, I am a former K-12 English teacher who has over 10 years of experience teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I know that many students have experienced academic challenges in the wake of COVID-19, and I am hoping this can be a beneficial opportunity for some students to gain short-term academic support at no cost to the family. How it works: If you are the parent or guardian of a K-12 student who needs academic support, I can offer one hour of tutoring or homework help in exchange for that student’s participation in a battery (group) of academic tests. The academic tests may take between 30 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes to administer, based on the student’s age and grade level. Because the administration of these assessments will fulfill a course requirement for a graduate program, the testing may be filmed or videotaped. Testing footage will be deleted or destroyed on or before the spring semester ends in May 2022. Please note that these tests must be administered in person, most likely at a Harris County Public Library. I am vaccinated and will take all precautions such as wearing a mask for the duration of the test administration. The one-hour tutoring session may occur in person right after testing, or you may schedule a virtual tutoring session with me at a later date.
