BOSTON — A 71-year-old Roxbury man accused of killing his girlfriend with wooden furniture dolly after an argument about cocaine was held without bail Wednesday at his arraignment. Alan Washington is charged with murdering Tanya Malone, 58, Tuesday evening in a Roxbury apartment. Prosecutors said Washington claimed Malone had stolen from him and called him a liar before he pushed her down and hit her in the head with the dolly. A police report said the argument was about cocaine, according to WCVB. Washington told a neighbor what happened after he realized Malone wasn't moving, prosecutors said. First responders said Malone had visible head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. "Domestic violence is such a deep betrayal and can happen to anyone," Suffolk District Attorey Rachael Rollins said in a statement. "The people we love and who allegedly love us back are not supposed to harm us. And violence against women, which can also be domestic, is a significant problem." Washington is scheduled to return to court Jan. 15.
