BOSTON — The Transportation Security Administration said officers at Logan International Airport on Monday found marijuana hidden inside a shampoo bottle, not box cutters as they originally said. "It was a small amount of marijuana hidden in the shampoo bottle," Massachusetts State Police Spokesperson David Procopio said. "The marijuana was confiscated and the person allowed to fly. There were no state charges as it was within the legal limit for possession under state law." Earlier in the day, the New England TSA tweeted that officers found two box cutters wrapped in plastic inside the 23.7-ounce Head & Shoulders shampoo bottle. But marijuana, not box cutters, were actually wrapped in the plastic. "The two marijuana bags were discovered during checked baggage screening. The box cutter in the photo was used to open the shampoo bottle," TSA spokesperson Daniel Velez said in an email. Update/Clarification: These concealed bags were actually bags of marijuana found during checked baggage screening @BostonLogan. @MassStatePolice took possession of the items. TSA officers are trained to look for and detect threats including artfully concealed items. https://t.co/E2sjFJsnD1— TSA_NewEngland (@TSA_NewEngland) December 14, 2020
