Press release from the Village of Port Chester: January 28, 2022 - 4:10pm Dear Residents,   A strong winter storm will bring a period of moderate to heavy snowfall and strong winds to much of our area, starting tonight and continuing through Saturday. Nor'easter conditions are possible for Westchester County with the accumulation of snowfall predicted to be much greater than 8 inches and may be accompanied by extremely strong winds for coastal locations, like Port Chester. The Village of Port Chester's Department of Public Works and Emergency Service agencies have already begun to prepare for the arrival of this weather event.   As such, a State of Emergency for The Village of Port Chester will begin this evening at 7:00 PM and last until 7:00 PM tomorrow, Saturday January 29th. Additionally, an Executive Order will begin at 9:00 PM this evening and last until 7:00 PM tomorrow, Saturday January 29th ordering that all vehicular traffic, except emergency vehicles and travel by essential personnel, shall be prohibited on all streets and roads in the Village of Port Chester.   If any adjustment, lengthening, or shortening to this State of Emergency or related Executive Order(s) should be necessary, residents will be advised of this at such time. Please be mindful of the following information regarding village operations and utility information:   PARKING ENFORCEMENT Personal Vehicle Parking: the village is requesting that residents utilize all legal off-street parking options that are available to them- personal driveways, parking lots, and garages. This measure will help lessen the volume of vehicles parked on our roadways and allow for a more robust plow effort by our DPW.  Your reasonable compliance with this measure also provides a safer roadway for when/ if emergency service vehicles are dispatched for response.   DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (DPW) DPW sanitation and public works employees are prepared to begin their plow routes at 7:00 PM this evening.   When clearing your own properties from potential snowfall, we always ask you remain vigilant in not dispensing this snow into the public roadway, but rather, elect to move this snow to another location on your own property. By partnering with our village in this way, you help keep our roadways clear for safe pedestrian passage and ensure that our emergency vehicles navigate our village without additional hazard.   SENIOR CENTER The Port Chester Senior Center will be CLOSED for regular operations on Saturday January 29th and will resume operations as scheduled on Monday January 31st.   If necessary, however, the center may become available to the public if there is a need for a heating or charging center for residents who find themselves without heat or power.  Potential hours of emergency operation will be posted and communicated by the village if/ when it is necessary to open the center's doors.  Please call 914.758.7379 to speak with our senior center staff about any questions you may have.   PORT CHESTER VILLAGE HALL DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS Village Hall administrative operations will open for regular business on Monday January 31st at 9:00 AM   UTILITY EMERGENCY & RESPONSE Con Edison: to report a gas and/ or electrical emergency or disruption to service, dial: 1.800.752.6633 Suez Water: to report watermain break, pipe issue, or disruption to service, dial: 914.632.6900 Optimum: to report a disruption in cable service, dial: 1.866.674.6287 Verizon: to report a disruption in cable service, dial: 1.800837.4966 Port Chester DPW: to report a downed powerline or a fallen tree that is creating a public hazard, dial: 914.939.5207 Port Chester Police Department/ Fire Department/ EMS: to report a criminal, medical, or other severe emergency, dial: 911   Together we will ensure that our village is cleaned swiftly, smartly, and most of all, everyone remains safe!   Stuart L.
