Press release from the City of Oak Creek: 01/27/2022 1:00 PM The Oak Creek Public Library is hosting a number of free programs for children, tweens, and teens during the month of February. Some of these programs require registration, and space is limited. Please see below for each program's registration start and end dates. Then, sign up by visiting the library's events calendar, in person at 8040 S. 6th St., or over the phone by calling 414-766-7900. Blind Date with a Book Blind Date Books are located on the display stand in the YA section throughout the month of February. After you read your mystery book, tell us a bit about it by filling out a review form, and we'll give you a sweet treat. Participants can turn in forms at the second-floor service desk. This program is geared toward teens. Registration is not required. Tween Board Game Club Mondays, Feb. 21st - Mar. 14th, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tweens in grades 6-8 are welcome to join us for an evening of playing board games at the library! Learn a new game from Oak Creek Library's board game collection, or play an old favorite with a friend. Games like "5 Minute Dungeon," "Betrayal at House on the Hill," and "Catan" will be provided, but feel free to bring a favorite from home if you'd like! This program will take place in the library's Story Time Room, is held over a 4-week period, and requires registration. Registration begins Monday, February 7. Register by clicking above or over the phone by calling 414-766-7900. You only need to sign up once to be signed up for all 4 sessions. Please note that all programs may be modified, canceled, or postponed due to ongoing health concerns. In the event of changes, registered patrons will be contacted and updates will be available at www.oakcreeklibrary.org. STEAM Lab Wednesdays, Feb. 23rd - Mar. 16th, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. This program is intended for children in grades 1-5. Work as a team to create, experiment and learn through hands-on activities. These activities include: February 23: Using simple materials, build a tower of cups without touching the cups. March 2: Can you save wormy? Wormy is a gummy worm whose boat has capsized, and he is stranded without his life jacket. Using simple materials, get Wormy back into his life jacket and into his boat. March 9: Build a maze, then see if you can send a robot through the maze. March 16: Build a tower strong enough to withstand a hurricane (i.e., a large fan).
