Press release from the University of Delaware: Article by UDaily staff January 28, 2022 University community reports publications, appointments and honors For the Record provides information about recent professional activities and honors of University of Delaware faculty, staff, students and alumni. Recent publications, appointments and honors include the following: Publications Rudi Matthee, John and Dorothy Munroe Distinguished Professor of History, published an epilogue to Elife Bicer and Philippe Bourmaud, eds., Alcohol in the Maghreb and the Middle East since the Nineteenth Century: Disputes, Policies and Practices (Palgrave MacMillan, 2022), pp. 209-24. Appointments Ravi Ammigan, associate provost of international programs and assistant professor in the School of Education, has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of the Centre for Internationalization of Higher Education (CHEI) at Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy. Honors Kun (Kelvin) Fu, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, earned two prestigious awards in late 2021. He was named one of 14 American Chemical Society's (ACS) Division of Polymeric Materials: Science & Engineering Young Investigators and one of 35 young innovators selected for the 2021 MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 China. MIT Technology Review has selected 35 under 35 young innovators since 1999 and launched the award specifically for Chinese talent in spring 2017. The ACS award honors international scientists and engineers who have excelled within seven years of launching their research careers. Susan Conaty-Buck, assistant professor and healthcare informatics researcher in the School of Nursing, has been named recipient of the 2022 State Advocate Award of Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). This award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding achievements by nurse practitioners and advocates within each state who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of nurse practitioners (NPs). She was honored for being instrumental in shaping NP policy in Delaware by representing the state NP organization in multiple forums and stakeholder meetings and advocating for inclusion in relevant legislation. Additionally, she was recognized for educating Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and students about the legislative process, the importance of inclusion and collaboration with other nursing and healthcare organizations; as well as for obtaining resources to improve the nursing workforce with efforts, such as developing and reporting on the finding of the DE APRN workforce survey. Conaty-Buck serves as a nursing advocate who takes every opportunity to promote APRNs and ensure they are included and represented in healthcare related forums and legislation such as end of life care, recommendation for medical marijuana, telehealth access and improvement in primary care legislation. She is a fellow of AANP, prior president of the DE Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, a board member of American Informatics Nurses Association and co-chair of the Health Informatics and Telehealth Community for AANP. She was selected as DE Top Nurse 2021 for Advancing and Leading the Profession.   To submit information for inclusion in For the Record, write to [email protected] and include "For the Record" in the subject line.
