FALMOUTH, MA — The Sandwich Road Fire Station Building Committee wants resident input on building a new fire station. The committee will hold a public information session inside the Lawrence School Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 3. This session will go from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "The public session will present information on the proposed new Fire Station to be located at 878 Sandwich Road," said committee co-chairs Chris Simmler and George Rogers in a joint statement. "We welcome your comments and suggestions." Town officials reminded residents that masks are required at the meeting. They can be taken off temporarily when speaking at the microphone. Any questions can be referred to the Town Manager's office via email at [email protected] or by calling 508-495-7320. Town meeting voters in April 2021 approved spending $800,000 to design a new fire station on Sandwich Road. The fire station will be built next to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth and the George Gaspa Sports Complex. Fire Chief Timothy Smith said the proposed station would serve the northeast section of town, from Sandwich Road to the Mashpee border, Joint Base Cape Cod and toward the north. The $800,000 pays for a design and construction cost estimate. Approval of the final project will go to town meeting voters in April 2022 and will require a debt exclusion vote in May 2022.
