STAMFORD, CT — A 23-year-old Stamford man was arrested on Thursday after police said he made threats with a stolen handgun at a home on Warren Street in the city's East Side. According to Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin, Jamir Simpson was charged with two counts of first-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, violation of a protective order, criminal possession of a firearm, stealing a firearm, and having a weapon in a motor vehicle. Conklin said shortly before noon on Thursday a dispute occurred at a home on Warren Street where Simpson lives. During an argument, Conklin said Simpson displayed a handgun and made threats to people at the home. Witnesses called police, and Simpson left in a blue Mercedes Benz before officers arrived, Conklin said, adding that Simpson went back to the house several minutes later on foot and continued to argue. Police set up a perimeter around the area and called people out of the house one-by-one. Simpson came out of the house and was detained; Conklin said witnesses corroborated earlier accounts that Simpson had a gun. "A number of patrol officers under the supervision of both Sgt. Sean Boeger and Sgt. Will Garay did a very good job on this," Conklin said. Officers scoured the neighborhood and found a blue Mercedes Benz parked nearby on William Street. Conklin said a loaded Springfield Armory .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun was located on the front passenger floorboard, and a key fob belonging to the blue Mercedes Benz was also found in Simpson's possession after he was arrested. Officers checked the National Crime Information Center and found that the gun had been stolen in a burglary in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on Dec. 15, 2020, Conklin noted. Simpson was being held on a $250,000 bond, and was arraigned in court Friday.
