What To Know About Storm Prep, And Importantly, Parking Bans

EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joseph A. Carfora, the East Haven Police Department and emergency operations officials says storm preparations have been ongoing. Now, the town is asking for residents to abide by the parking ban. Carfora's message: The Town of East Haven is expecting a significant snow storm that may bring heavy snow, strong winds and coastal flooding. The storm will begin this evening and continue through until Saturday afternoon. This storm is expected to impact travel, making it very difficult if not impossible to drive, these hazardous conditions could impact driving this evening and into Saturday. Parking bans will go into effect from the start of snowfall and for 36 hours thereafter. Our public works department has been preparing for the storm all week and the fleet of plow trucks are ready to go. They will be working throughout the event clearing roads to make sure there will be as few interruptions as possible. If you can, please stay home so our dedicated workers can get an early start on cleaning our streets. Our police and fire departments are prepared and ready to respond if needed." Please take note: We will be aggressively enforcing the parking ban which will carry a $100.00 penalty if cars are left on the street after a Snow Emergency is declared. Officers will be distributing flyers around town prior to the storm which explains the town ordinance. Our goal is not to ticket anyone, but we do want to make our hard working Public Works employee's jobs easier. Help us help them and get those cars off the street as early as possible.
