DARIEN, CT — A coronavirus vaccine clinic for children ages 5-11 scheduled to take place Saturday at Darien Town Hall has been rescheduled as forecasted snow totals for the weekend continue to rise across the state.
In a Facebook post, town officials said Saturday's event, which was planned to take place in the Town Hall gym from noon to 3 p.m., will now take place Feb. 5 at the same location and time.
The clinic will administer the Pfizer vaccine to children ages 5-11 only and is intended to be the second dose for those who received their first one Jan. 8.
Others children in that age group can also attend the clinic and receive their first dose. No appointment is necessary.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is expected in Fairfield County as of Friday morning, with total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches possible and winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Near blizzard conditions are possible for a period on Saturday.
The town also announced this week Town Hall will be closed Saturday in anticipation of the storm, and all planned activities will be rescheduled or cancelled.
The Darien Transfer Station and Recycling Center, as well as the Swap Shop, will also be closed Saturday.
