Description
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — With snow threatening Maryland, Anne Arundel County Public Schools canceled all in-person activities scheduled for Friday evening through Sunday. Classes are still on for the rest of Friday.
AACPS also canceled its Friday COVID-19 tests slated for 2 p.m. or later. Schools are closed for students on Monday for semester break.
Meteorologists expect Anne Arundel County to get between 2 and 5 inches of snow. Forecasters also called for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
"Plan on slippery road conditions," the National Weather Service said in a bulletin. "The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute."
The agency also issued a winter weather advisory for the region. That lasts from 4 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday.
Advisories are the least urgent weather alert. Watches are more pressing, and warnings are the most serious.
"Slow down and use caution while traveling," the National Weather Service said. "When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury."
