Here are the top three stories in Des Moines today: The Des Moines Police Department made an announcement today denying a vast majority of the allegations in a lawsuit that was filed on Wednesday. This lawsuit was filed by a group of female employees of the Police Department that accused the city of Des Moines and its Police Department of allowing sexual harassment to continue in the department for decades. The department admitted some "inappropriate conduct" but nothing criminal. (Des Moines Register)Hoover High School will not have a varsity football program next year due to a low number of players. The school will enter a co-op agreement with another metro school that will allow Hoover students to still play football. There is hope that the program can return again. (KCCI Des Moines) Des Moines Area Community College is offering a new emergency response degree program to help with a firefighters shortage in the area. The degree combines traditional paramedic training with a concentration in fire science. There has been a major shortage of firefighters in the neighboring Clive, Iowa.
