Here are the top five stories today in Woonsocket: There was a wedding Saturday outside the Providence Public Library. Instead of flowers or confetti, guests threw snow. Dealing with the bridal veil was a little challenging, but throwing a few snowballs after the event made it worthwhile. (@CoreyWelch)Paulette Hamilton, the former North Smithfield town administrator, is now the new executive director of the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative. We learned Thursday that the organization also appointed "Adam Brunetti as chairman, Margaux Morisseau as vice-chairwoman, Garrett Mancieri as interim treasurer, and Geraldine Barclay-King as secretary." When responding FD workers realized they needed help, they reached out to "North Providence, North Smithfield, Johnston and Lincoln." The investigation is ongoing. (ABC) National Grid struggled a little with outages on Saturday. Earlier, there were 7,300 customers without power in Massachusetts, and 67 in Rhode Island. However, the utility has almost 4,000 workers fixing outages. (ABC) Rhode Island's Saturday travel ban was extended to midnight. Governor Dan McKee warned that "the latest projections showed about 20 inches of snow accumulation, on average, across the state during the storm." Even so, RIPTA and the Block Island Ferry plan to resume service Sunday morning.
