Press release from the Multnomah County District Attorney: January 29, 2022 Elisabeth Shepard, Communications Director  [email protected]    PORTLAND, Oregon – Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced Jerod Bradly Gunter, 44, has been arraigned as of Wednesday, January 25, on sixteen counts stemming from Portland area burglaries between 2019 and 2021.  Gunter's alleged string of burglaries began in the fall of 2019 when he and associates stole roughly $25,000 from a Southeast Portland bar. In 2020, Gunter was involved in additional burglaries, ranging from small independent businesses such as cannabis dispensaries to Trader Joes, Carl's Junior, and Elmers. Gunter and his associates deployed tactics such as spray painting security cameras, stealing safes, unmounting and stealing ATMs from inside of businesses, and in one instance sawing through an outside wall to gain entry to a business to burglarize it.  Gunter and his associates allegedly stole thousands of dollars over the course of two years and spent the money on drugs and gambling. Given the threat to public safety that Gunter posed, Deputy District Attorney Eric Palmer requested that the Multnomah County Circuit Court deny Gunter's conditional release. The Court set Gunter's bail to $50,000.  Gunter's charges include:  Six counts of Burglary in the Second Degree  One count of Theft in the Second Degree  Two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree One count of Burglary in the First Degree  Four counts of Theft in the First Degree  One count of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree One count Theft in the Third Degree This press release was produced by the Multnomah County District Attorney.
