Description

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County commissioners approved a land swap deal Tuesday to make up for a zoning decision last year that sparked controversy about the future of Dobbins Air Reserve Base, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. Once the deal is legally closed, Cobb County will own a 4-acre parcel of land that would've become a 38-condo development by Venture Communities, the MDJ reported, and will turn it into a transportation department facility. Venture will instead receive a 4.76-acre portion of county-owned land off Terrell Mill Road for the condos. The vote was approved 4-1, with Commissioner Keli Gambrill voting against the measure. The decision moves the condo development out of Dobbins' Accident Potential Zone, which was approved last year by commissioners in a party line vote. All three Democrats voted in favor, against the objections from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and Dobbins officials themselves. Read more from the Marietta Daily Journal.
