WESTCHESTER, NY — There was a minor earthquake in the region, Thursday afternoon, but most of us didn't notice, although people in Port Chester and surrounding areas report feeling a slight rumble. According to new data from the U.S. Geological Survey, the 1.4 magnitude earthquake occurred around 12:38 p.m. Thursday 2 kilometers north-northwest of Cos Cob at a depth of 5 kilometers. The source of the odd noise and rumble was unknown for most of Thursday. Shortly after the event, residents took to social media looking for answers. Residents reported feeling a tremor from Stamford down to Port Chester. One woman said her house in Glenville shook; another resident in Old Greenwich said they went outside to see if something had fallen on their house.
