In a multicultural society, it is hard to set a standard sometimes because of all the different customs out there. People don't always see eye-to-eye because of different family backgrounds, and more often, some things are never addressed in this world, no matter what. Things that some people take for granted in one place is not always available in other places. For example, clean water in a typical city is easily accessible as turning on a faucet, while in other places, it might have to be trucked in or filtered or even bought in bottles through vendors. Water is an essential in life; we all know that, whether we keep it in mind or not. There is one other commodity/resource not talked about often because it is simply not thought of, or could not be thought about all the time as we go on in our busy lives, and that essential substance in life is AIR. We just about never talk about AIR. Grant it, there were a few popular songs heard over the radio, decades ago about AIR. In everyday lives, we don't talk about air all the time. Instead, we see commercials on television about home fragrances and shop online for scented candles and oil diffusors. We got plummeted by these sales pitches and forgot where clean, breathable air comes from or how to make sure we can get it. Clean, breathable air is essential to young ones and older adults. We do see people enjoying a cigarette now and then, and become unable to express negative feelings about the bad effects it could have on our health. People sometimes inhale even more noxious fumes to overcome other smells that they find detestable. When the wind blows in your face, and you noticed something in the air that is along the lines of toxic, there really is nothing much anyone can to except to try to avoid it. In my own sad experience is that when I tried to tell someone, specifically at Poison Control, over the telephone, sometimes the person on the other end has no clue as to what I am talking about. Not only I have had Poison Control deny me any help or acknowledgement about something giving me trouble, their operators sometimes is totally clueless as to what I was trying to say and won't even give me the shadow of a doubt and try to tackle the problem by questioning what is ailing me. Air is just one of those things that, if you don't have it, you'd try anything to get it, even to the point of self harm, if you were treated improperly. It's hard to say what everyone needs, but personally, I believe in that if people paid enough attention, anyone can be "saved". There is no "ugly" in this world; beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Getting to know someone and to celebrate him or her in a good way is what it takes to prove your love for that person. In our busy lives, we don't always have the time to consult a dictionary or look into someone's history to shed light on someone who has moved aside or moved away. We don't often remember someone, miss that person, or pray for that person's return. We don't always get to say what we wanted to say to a person sometimes until it is too late. What I'd like to do sometimes, is to talk about someone, anyone, whether the memories were good or bad. Because we all started out in life wanting to be good and well liked, we could reach that point again later in life. A good community is a healthy community. Just what is there that is not knowable in the 21st century? We shouldn't be suffering at all. Peace and clarity is the goal. We will have peace and harmony when we try.
