Description

We're back!!! SwampCon is a free, multi-genre convention hosted by University of Florida students at the J. Wayne Reitz Student Union! SwampCon is a free, multi-genre convention hosted by University of Florida students at the J. Wayne Reitz Student Union. For over ten years, members of the Gator Anime club have volunteered their time and talents to present this event, which celebrates Japanese arts and fashion, gaming, pop culture, cosplay, and performance arts across fandoms. Some of our events include our Maid Cafe, a Drag Show, our Vocaloid Concert, the SwampCon Idol Fest, an Artist Alley, Vendor Hall, Costume Contest, AMV Contest, panels, dance shows, a table top gaming room, and more! SwampCon is family friendly, and open to everybody–whether you’re a student, a Gainesville local, or from halfway across the world. We are staunchly LGBT-friendly, and welcome people of all ages, races, cultures, beliefs, and genders. We do not tolerate bigotry, and in order to protect the minors at our event we have strict policies regarding explicit and otherwise NSFW content. Additionally, we comply with all University of Florida policies. SwampCon: 1v1 is funded in part by the University of Florida Student Government. SwampCon staff do not profit from the production of the event, and are not paid. Every dollar of funding, whether from fundraising, donation, merch sales, or Student Government goes directly back into the convention, especially our venue rental fees. Even at a reduced rate, our the Reitz Union isn’t cheap! We appreciate every donor, VIP attendee, and merch buyer who have helped us keep SwampCon free through the years. SwampCon is presently planning to be in person with masks. We will keep our social media updated on our precautionary measures along with any updates on the event. We are dedicated to protecting all attendees of our convention and our community. We encourage everyone to only attend if they are fully vaccinated to protect themselves and those around them. Should the event be unsafe to hold in person, we will digitize our convention similarly to our 2021 event. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or want to get involved with the con, please contact us! We can also be found on social media @SwampCon. We’re excited to see you at the con! http://www.swampcon.org
