Help support these children AND their families! We will be allocating 100% of event proceeds to benefit our statewide network of local First Steps nonprofits that directly serve young children, their families and communities. Your sponsorship will help ensure that in South Carolina: ✨ Children grow up healthy, safe, and ready for school and life success; ✨ Parents have the confidence to serve as their child’s first and most important teacher; and ✨ Educators are supported in providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children’s learning and development. We are grateful to the many sponsors that made this evening possible, especially presenting sponsor First Citizens Bank. It's time to get your tickets!! Here's one family's story. My'Kiyah Watkins was a sophomore in college when she became a mom. At first, she says she struggled to balance the demands of school with the responsibilities of raising her daughter, My'Nala. First Steps was able to help. My'Kiyah signed up for the "Talk to Me" program at Cherokee County First Steps, which teaches parents about early brain development and ways to incorporate language and learning into daily routines, even busy ones. The experience has paid off. At fourteen months old, My'Nala is thriving. She is talkative, outgoing, and loves to learn. "I didn't know she would be this advanced this early," her mom says. My'Kiyah has surprised herself too. She is succeeding in school and pursuing a career in sports management. Thanks in part to First Steps, she is now confident that a brighter future is possible — for both her daughter and herself. Learn more about South Carolina First Steps at www.SCFirstSteps.org. JOIN South Carolina First Steps, April 28th at The Hall at Senate's End 6-10pm for LIVE Music, Libations, FOOD and FUN! Get tickets now! In 2020-21, South Carolina First Steps directly served 37,163 children and reached an additional 60,000 children in classrooms. Also, 7,963 families participated in parent education programs, learning the strategies they need to be their child’s first and best teacher. We could not have achieved this alone. Our accomplishments are shared with state leaders, funders, partners, and most importantly, parents and caregivers of our state’s young children. When we work together, we can realize a future in which every child is healthy, nurtured, and ready for success - a brighter future for us all. When you give to First Steps, the impact of your tax-deductible contribution is multiplied because of a unique public-private partnership with the State of South Carolina. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, First Steps relies on donors like you, coupled with the State’s investment in early childhood services, to ensure all children reach their highest potential.
