An intermediate-level class for students who are confident in garment construction and would like to start developing their own patterns

Skill level: Intermediate
Prerequisite skills: Mastery of home sewing machine, confidence in garment construction, understanding of pattern identification and symbols, comfort following a commercial pattern, strong understanding of seam allowances and measurements, ability to cut accurately
Have you mastered the basics of sewing? Ready to start making your own patterns?
This class will introduce you to patternmaking by teaching how to develop a sloper. Students will start with a skirt sloper in the first class and progress to developing a bodice sloper in the second class.

Students will use ASTM chart and all work on the same size (size 10).
A shopping list will be provided for students to purchase supplies ahead of class.
Masks will be required for the duration of class.

Mission: Rightfully Sewn will provide seamstress training for at-risk women so they can thrive in a specialized workforce that will reestablish Kansas City as an epicenter of garment manufacturing, while at the same time, propel Kansas City fashion designers to market so they can supply the burgeoning demand for affordable, high-quality, American-produced garments.
