"Quick" Self-Portrait Painting Workshop

Inspired by the current Exhibition, “Neighborhoods: Intersecting Encounters”, artist Neal Hanowitz will be teaching on Quick Self Portraits Join artist Neal Hanowitz as he guides you through his techniques for achieving a quick portrait - using yourself as the model! The instructor will be guiding you in a step-by step manner to properly layout the portrait onto the canvas, and color mixing techniques that you can use for other works. Students will be using their cell phone cameras to take the photos, similar to Hanowitz’ own technique. This workshop will be using acrylic paint on canvas paper. All Materials will be provided. No Experience necessary! Attendees are invited to bring a snack and beverage for a break. $40* which includes all materials. * Scholarships available - Please contact Arts Warehouse if you'd like to request a scholarship for this workshop at [email protected] Instructor Biography:Neal Hanowitz, a New York City native has taught a variety of media including painting, sculpture, film animation, and printmaking for the past 27 years. Formal studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and Pratt Institute set a lifetime of art making into motion. He has lived, taught and exhibited in The United States, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, and most recently Myanmar.
