Hoopla digital has a Black History Month collection of streaming movies which includes a mix of titles for adults and children. These items are instantly available for streaming 24/7 so you can learn about Black history all year long! 3. Visit our lobby That simple, huh? Yep! Throughout February, our lobby (a.k.a. the Urban Living Room) will be host to a traveling exhibit from the Historical Society of Palm Beach County called "City of Hope: Resurrection City and the Poor People's Campaign." This exhibit honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s final vision that every U.S. citizen should have equal access to economic opportunities and the American dream. View the exhibit in the Urban Living Room during library hours throughout the month! 4. Read (or listen!) to books on Black history Ask a librarian or grab a book from any of our displays around the library that celebrate Black history! If you're more of a digital reader (or listener!), take a look at the Black History Month featured shelf on cloudLibrary or hoopla digital's selection of ebooks and audiobooks that you can download and start reading any time, anywhere! 5. Dial a story Did you know you can listen to stories over the phone at any time? Call 1-561-709-7900 to hear a selection of folktales, poems, and more that celebrate Black history! Put your phone on speaker, pull up a chair, and listen with the whole family. You can even listen to our very own Circulation Supervisor, Sandra, tell a classic folktale of the trickster Anansi! 6. Share your history You can share and preserve your own history at the library. Have a story to tell? Our new WhisperRoom sound recording booth has everything you need to record and edit your story, your way. The booth is available for booking on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, or you can drop in during our newly expanded Digital Studio Open Access hours on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can also save your treasured family photos and videos with our new take-home Digital Memory Kits. Turn piles of old photographs and videotapes into digital copies to preserve, share, and organize. The Photo Scanning Kit allows you to scan photos and documents that can be transferred wirelessly to a computer or smartphone. The Video Capture Kit can be connected to a VCR or camcorder to capture and convert videos. Kits can be checked out for two weeks and can be reserved online or over the phone. Drop by the Digital Studio on the second floor on Fridays between 10:00 AM and Noon to get a demonstration.* *This program was funded under the provisions of the DLIS Florida American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
