A Special Needs Trust is a specific type of Trust that’s set up to take care of an individual with a disability. The SNT can supplement public benefit payments without jeopardizing eligibility for those benefits. Similarly, an ABLE Account is a 529A account is a state-run savings program for eligible individuals with disabilities. Funds in an ABLE account are exempt from the Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid asset limit, and earnings are exempt from federal income tax.
