EAST HARLEM, NY — A fire broke out in an East Harlem apartment building Friday morning, prompting a large emergency response.
The call went out at 9:52 a.m. for a fire in the ductwork of 158 East 102nd St.: a five-story building between Third and Lexington avenues, with a laundromat on the ground floor.
It reached a second alarm soon after, as firefighters rushed to search for any additional flames within the building, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
Videos posted to the Citizen app showed firetrucks swarming the street. By 11 a.m., it had been extinguished, though firefighters continued to search the building.
No injuries were reported, according to the fire department.
