BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree police arrested one man and are looking for another after officers said they caught the men with a stolen ATM from a Wayland store. Police said they found the ATM around 3:15 a.m., Thursday, when an officer patrolling the Common Street area saw a suspicious vehicle parked near a church. When the officer pulled closer, he saw two men standing outside a dark-colored Honda CRV, with an ATM on the ground, police said. Police said the ATM recovered was stolen on Jan. 26, from a store in Wayland. When the men saw the officer, they tried to escape. One man drove away, while the other ran away, police said. The driver got away after a short police pursuit. Police said the Honda CRV had a Connecticut registration. Police then set up a search perimeter for the suspect who ran away. The search team included a Braintree police K-9 unit. Around 4:30 a.n., the K-9 team found the suspect hiding under a tarp behind someone's house, police said. Police said they arrested Darryn Paul Pierre-King, 22, of West Hartford, Connecticut. He was charged with receiving stolen property and malicious destruction of property and will be arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday, police said. Anyone with information regarding the suspect who got away is asked to call Braintree police at 781-794-8620.
