Description

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — All after-school and evening activities are canceled Friday in Baltimore County Public Schools, officials announced just before noon. All weekend activities are also called off, including school-sponsored events and/or community activities on school property from Friday through Sunday. Authorities cited "impending inclement weather" in making the decision and stated that virtual after-school tutoring may proceed as scheduled. Baltimore County is under a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday calling for snow. Combined with wind gusts up to 40 mph, the weather could make travel hazardous, according to officials. Temperatures will be below freezing during the Friday evening commute, the advisory says, with the steadiest snow expected Friday night. During the winter weather advisory period, the National Weather Service issued these predictions: In southern Baltimore County, 2 to 5 inches of snow may fall. In northern Baltimore County, 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall. Courtesy of the National Weather Service. Two schools — Golden Ring Middle School and Shady Spring Elementary School — released students Friday morning due to a water main break. All other schools will dismiss students as scheduled.
