NEW HAVEN, CT — Every day of the week, except Fridays, walk-up and drive-thru saliva-based PCR testing for Covid-19 at 60 Sargent Drive from 8 a.m. until noon and on the Green from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This saliva-based PCR testing is collaboration between the Yale School of Public Health, Yale Pathology, the City of New Haven, and the state, officials announced.
Testing will be performed by Saliva Direct, an initiative of YSPH and Yale Pathology Labs.
Granted an FDA emergency use authorization in 2021, the Yale Labs-approved testing has been in use across the country, from Arkansas to Wyoming.
The news was announced Thursday at Long Wharf during a press briefing attended by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.
Bysiewicz was quoted as saying that while case numbers are dropping, "we're not out of the woods yet."
